Founded in 2001 by owner Shawn DeLude with only a pair of work gloves and his trusty Toyota pickup truck, Nauset Disposal has grown to become one of the largest private waste haulers on Cape Cod. Servicing residents and commercial businesses on Cape Cod from Provincetown to Falmouth, the Orleans based company now has approximately 50 employees and recently added a 33rd vehicle to its fleet.

DeLude’s 27 years in waste and recycling hauling includes experience working for small, local haulers as well as in the large corporate world. His start in the industry began with Bayside Disposal, a small business that was bought out in 1993 by BFI. Included in the BFI acquisition, Shawn was suddenly thrust into the corporate world; he quickly rose through the ranks of sales and management but was continually frustrated by the lack of customer relations and community focus. In 1997, a group of investors invited Shawn to help rebuild Bayside Disposal and come on board as a manager. Just two short years later however, Bayside was bought out by Allied Waste and Shawn was suddenly alienated from the industry.

Taking some time to reflect on his past work experience, DeLude felt the larger waste haulers were missing the mark by not investing enough in the local community. He soon realized there was room in the market for a disposal company that believed customer service, satisfaction and community impact should be considered priorities. His depth of experience in the industry, coupled with a passion for excellent, customer based service, soon resulted in the inception of Nauset Disposal. A company founded on the basis of providing excellent customer service, Nauset Disposal also considers its commitment to the Cape Cod community – and the environment – top priorities.

16 years later with over 1,200 commercial accounts, Nauset Disposal is proud to be a company known for contributing to the local community and helping to sustain a viable economic climate on Cape Cod. A phrase often heard in the office is “If they’re not making it, we’re not taking it”, meaning if commercial customers are not doing well, neither is Nauset Disposal. That’s why the company offers several free marketing initiatives for its commercial accounts, giving customers the opportunity to grow their business by partnering with Nauset Disposal. Our “Better Bills” program allows businesses to include a geo-targeted Val-Pak like flyer in printed invoices; monthly giveaways and spotlight opportunities for commercial businesses each month in our e-newsletter reach over 7,000 primary or secondary homeowners and business owners on Cape Cod; event partnership opportunities and social media posts are just a few of the ways we commit to support (and grow) local business.

Nauset Disposal is a member of every Chamber of Commerce on Cape Cod. Each week you can find our employees at Business After Hours, community events and local fundraisers. Nauset Disposal employees sit on boards for Chambers of Commerce and volunteer at annual Chamber events like the Orleans Chamber ClamBQ and the Yarmouth Chamber Trolley Tour Taste of Yarmouth. Each year, the company supports over 125 non-profit organizations through in-kind or cash donations. The company’s growing employee base, most of whom live locally, contribute to the Cape Cod community through volunteer opportunities and community service. A Cape & Islands Green Level 2 certified company, Nauset Disposal adheres to “Green” office and billing practices and has transitioned 60% of its vehicle fleet to run on power-pro fluid, a premium hydraulic fluid that is non-toxic, biodegradable and water soluble. A primary philosophy within the company is that sustainability – of the local economy, the community, and the environment – are of paramount importance when visualizing the future of Cape Cod.
