How I Can Help You

I offer 35+ years of business experience across a wide array of industries and stages of growth from startups to Fortune 500.

Executive Summary:  I am a lifelong entrepreneur who comes from a very entrepreneurial family.  The most important skills I am eager to share can be summarized as financial/cashflow modeling, marketing strategy and go-to-market planning & execution, sales/sales management, partnership/corporate development, and human resources management/compensation planning.   I offer deep industry experience/knowledge in Consumer Products & Services, Internet Software/SaaS, eCommerce, and Sports & Fitness.

Here's my career story and a partial list of ways it might be of help to you:

I started my career with General Electric in their Financial Management Training program where I learned accounting and Finance which allows me to help you think through the fundamentals of how you can structure your business to be profitable (and/or figure out how much money you need to get your idea to the point where it can support your family/and or lifestyle needs.)

Then I went off to grad school at Harvard for my MBA which helped me bolster my overall business toolkit.  After business school, I went into Private Equity where I learned how to buy and sell businesses as well as the art and science of valuing companies and negotiating to close bayside and sell-side deals.  With this experience, I can --again-- help you think through how you might find funding and/or exit strategies.

From there I was recruited to do the same kind of work on behalf of Reebok to run their Mergers and Acquisitions and Strategic Planning efforts.  That soon led to running several different divisions within Reebok.  My Reebook years seeped me in what it takes to successfully design, market and deliver compelling consumer products which I can be of help if you are in the consumer product space.... either through retail or direct-to-consumer.   Another cool area I got involved in Licensed Products.  I helped kick off Reebok's Licensed Apparel business with licenses with the NFL and NCAA.

I then joined my father's business (again in Consumer Products) when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  I stayed for 2+ years and helped to continue its grow via big-box retail.  Upon my father's passing and my departure, I helped to engineer the company's sale.  These experiences built on Reebok and will be helpful if you are thinking through how to make your products attractive to retail buyers (the people you need to sell at places like Walmart to earn a spot on their shelves).  This also applies to eCommerce (think Amazon or Walmart) channels.

After selling the family business I kicked off a new chapter in my career which launched 20+ years in Tech/Software startups where I concentrated in Marketing/Sales/Corporate Development at the C-suite (executive) level.   My first Internet Startup was out in San Diego with RealAge (an internet website where people took a survey to learn how old their body really was based on health/lifestyle choices and what to do to live a more healthy life... grow younger!) where I ran Sales, Marketing and Partnerships.  I then moved back to the Boston area to become head of Marketing, Sales and Partnerships at MarketSoft, a marketing automation software company.  From there I set up LaunchPad Venture Advisors where I launched startup ideas of my own (at the intersection of sports/fitness and technology) as well as consulting for others.  I did this for 15 years before joining a dear friend's human resources (HR) software company to help them grow through acquisitions and partnerships.  This is where I currently spend my time during work hours.  The takeaway for you is that if you need help in an endeavor that involves commercializing software, the internet or technology in general, these last 20 years have provided me a PhD in the ‘school of hard knocks’ that I know I can be of assistance in helping you think through things or solve problems.

I am eager to give back to my community here on Cape Cod and look forward to helping by scheduling time on nights and weekends!
